Networking Signal respects copyright, both ours and everyone else’s. This page explains who owns what on this site, what you may reuse, and how to file a complaint in either direction.
What we own
All original material on networkingsignal.com is the copyright of Networking Signal and its authors. That includes the article text, the diagrams and illustrations, the code behind our browser based tools, the animated artwork used as featured images, and the structure and selection of our comparison tables.
Every diagram on this site is drawn by us in code. We do not use stock imagery lifted from other publications and we do not reuse manufacturer marketing art as our own.
What you may do without asking
- Quote a short extract, up to roughly one paragraph, with clear attribution to Networking Signal and a working link to the original article.
- Link to any page on this site. You never need permission to link to us.
- Print or save an article for your own reference, or for internal use inside your own organisation.
- Cite us in academic or training material with a normal citation.
What requires written permission
- Republishing an article in full or in substantial part, on any site, in any language.
- Translating our content.
- Rewriting or paraphrasing an article and publishing it as original work.
- Reproducing our diagrams, illustrations or tool code anywhere.
- Using our content to train a commercial model, or redistributing it as part of a dataset.
- Any commercial use, including inclusion in a paid course or a paid publication.
Ask first. Write to [email protected] with what you want to use and where. We say yes more often than people expect, particularly for educational use.
Third party material on this site
Product names, brand names, trademarks and logos mentioned on this site belong to their respective owners and are used for identification, comparison and commentary. Where we reproduce a small amount of third party material, we do so under fair use or fair dealing for the purposes of criticism, review and reporting, with attribution.
If you believe we have used your material beyond that, tell us using the process below and we will act quickly.
Filing a copyright complaint against us
If you own copyright in material that appears on networkingsignal.com without your permission, send a notice to [email protected] with the subject line Copyright Complaint.
To be actionable under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, your notice must include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorised to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If several works are covered by one notice, a representative list.
- Identification of the material you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it. A direct URL on our site is best.
- Your contact details, including address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
What happens next
We acknowledge every notice, usually within two working days. Where a complaint is clearly valid we will normally remove or disable the material immediately, often before completing our own review, and then investigate. We will tell you what action we took.
Please be aware that filing a materially false notice can expose you to liability for damages, including costs and legal fees, under section 512(f) of the DMCA.
Counter notice
If material of yours was removed from this site and you believe the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter notice to the same address. It must include your signature, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your contact details, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court.
Reporting someone who copied us
Our articles are scraped and republished regularly. If you find Networking Signal content on another site without attribution, we would be grateful if you told us at the address above, with a link. We pursue these.
Repeat infringers
We terminate the access of contributors and commenters who repeatedly infringe copyright, and we report persistent scrapers to their host and to search engines.
